Round and Round

I went swimming late last night, after what felt like a hard swim the other day I decided I needed another look at my swimming again. The pool was empty, just me. Its 17M by 8M so I decided to swim round in circles non stop...I managed to do it 22 times without stopping then someone came in. So I then went on to do 17M lengths and banged out 50 x 17M but didn't breathe at the turns. When they left I then churned out another 10 full circuits non stop...I'm worried that swimming in a pool with the breathing at the turns is too easy in comparison with swimming non stop. I was certainly swimming slower as I was turning a fair bit but I did manage to swim the distance without stopping so panic over.....I was swimming for a full hour.

  1. I know the feeling... I experienced the same thing when I went from a 12 m pool to a 25 m and now a 50m one... All I can say is once you get used to it, it gets more comfortable in the long one as it is easier to get some kind of rythm. At least that's how I feel. I am planning to go tomorrow after work if you are interested.

  3. I bet that was a first...LoL... good for you!
I was in hospital for yet another test this morning-- MRI of the knee this time..
Appointment with the knee specialist scheduled for May 12th... So little hope to get the problem fixed for June 7 th but I guess the main thing is I am back in shape. Even pulled a fantastic 8k run time (38.03) on a very challenging course.(500 m ascent). That's a full 4 minutes better than my previous best on that course.

Yes the pool is the 50 m one. It's open till later (8PM I believe) on Friday.. That's also when the Belgian tri team is training so we can measure up with them... :)

  5. Lol... I checked as I was wondering too... GPS watch shows 500 m in total which translates to 1 m ascent for every 16m, that seems reasonable to me :)
