My diary of going from absolute zero fitness to half ironman. The trials and tribulations of my training up to my first race in 2009 and then post race my continuing battle to remain fit. If you find you're always thinking about getting fit but never quite starting and you could be inspired by seeing that anyone can do it . Then I think you'll find that inspiration here.
When does your taper start and your carbo loading begin?
ReplyDeleteNo painkillers good for you. How is the wound on the leg?
ReplyDeleteOn my side, I took advantage of Labor day to go cycling and running. Had not been running in the past week so was a test for the knee to go for a brick. No change there though, still gets painful after 7k.. I did 102 km cycling (my watch :) ) in around 3h30 minutes. The last 12 were just to stretch the legs. The actual time for the 90 is 3h04 mins 40 seconds. I was on target until the 60k mark (2.00.37) then had to drop the pace due to the head wind getting stronger.
I then went running after a 15 minutes transition. 15k in 1hr 30 minutes. Not such a great time but considering I needed to stop a few times to walk and flex my knee, I guess it is not too bad.
Good luck for your climb in the Alps tomorrow.
Looking forward to read the story here when you get back :)
Have fun!!

Leg is healing and starting to drop the scabs already. Bruise on hip is still very painful to touch and is still the size of a hand palm, the 8 hour drive yesterday didn't help it. It didn't hamper my race too much I don't think.
ReplyDeleteStu,
ReplyDeleteI won't do much in the last week from the Monday or Tuesday I don't think. I might swim but nothing too much.
Carb loading started when i first discovered beer when I was 15, I'm tapering that intake off a fair bit these days.
